SMCCCD Biodegradables Survey
SMCCCD members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society are investigating the possibility of reducing the use of plastics on our campuses.
San Francisco, Los Angeles, Paris, and other cities around the world have enacted laws to ban plastic bags during the next year. China plans to save 37 million barrels of oil by stopping use of plastic bags. Plastics are not biodegradable and will never be decomposed. Plastic litter poses a choking hazard for wildlife. The petroleum used to make plastics could be better used to make clothing (i.e., nylon), household items (i.e., patio furniture), and pharmaceuticals (i.e., aspirin, purification filters). We are advocating use of earth friendly biodegradable alternatives that decompose in less than 3 months.
To make such changes we need to know what you think. Once you enter your ID below, there will be two short questions on the next page.
